This week, I changed out the EGR valve in our new truck, and in all honesty, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. What the EGR valve does is recirculates emission gases depending on how much load your car is under. So when your EGR valve goes wrong, it can affect gas mileage and release stuff into the environment. We researched the part and found out what it would cost. The total cost for the part was around $100, and a shop would have charged you about $150 for the parts and the labor, and you would have had to leave your car at the shop all day. This repair took about thirty min for someone with little automotive mechanical experience. To figure out how to do it, I just watched a YouTube video, and that was all I did. It was a super easy repair, and I would say anyone can do it with a little time, even if you have no mechanical experience. The amount of time ay vary from vehicle to vehicle.
